Amul Restaurant at Jaffna

At about 7AM, we were walking from our hotel room towards the Jaffna central bus stand. I could not find any tea shop on the way. We were starving and wanted to do breakfast before going to Nainatheevu. After a while, we found a little restaurant called Amul on hospital road near the bus stand. Water is not good in Jaffna(may be due to the proximity to sea?). So had to buy a water bottle. It was not a case in Colombo, where even tap water was like honey.

Getting idly at 7AM is next to impossible in Jaffna town. We ended up ordering couple of Kal Dosai(30LKR each) and Ulundhu Vadai(30LKR). Served with white pumpkin dumped moong dal(they call it sambar) and spicy onion chutney. Not bad, it was a simple, but good stuffing before starting a day. Washed down with a milk tea (35LKR). Had a strong flavour of tea leaves, but too sweet like a payasam. Meal set us back by 250LKR for two of us. Thats around 113 INR. Not bad isn't it ?
