What to eat: Indian and Arabic Cuisine
Where: Palmshore Restaurant, Opp to DLF, Ramapuram, Chennai
Verdict: One of our colleague informed about his plans to treat us for
dinner yesterday. Initially we planned for Kumarakom restaurant, but it
was closed on the occasion of Onam. So we decided to visit Palmshore
Restaurant. We were a total of 19 - 17 carnivores and 2 herbivores.
We
had been advised to visit 2nd floor due to lack of free tables in other
floors. Looking at the menu our vegetarian colleagues had a BIG
disappointment as there were only very few veg starters.
Ordered
multiple bowls of Dijaj Shorba, Aattukaal soup, Veg corn soup and then
bbq chicken, bbq basa fish, vazhai ilai basa fish, Mix Arabian Platter,
Tandoori Chicken, Tandoori Veg Platter as appetizers. Prawn briyani,
prawn schezwan fried rice, schezwan veg fried rice, chef's special
chicken briyani, chicken schezwan fried rice, Mutton Briyani, Kadai veg,
paneer butter masala, butter chicken masala, butter naan, tandoori
roti, chicken shawarma roll.
I got the chance to taste only some of the items that we ordered.
Here is the review of food items that I had.
Dijaj Shorba - Dijaj means chicken in arabic. So this is nothing but a
chicken soup. It was perfect not like other places where they add corn
flour to increase the consistency. This is bit liquidized, but good one.
My rating: 4/5
Bbq chicken Full - It had 8 medium size chicken
pieces which were juicy...came along with 2 kuboos and mayonnaise. My
rating: 4/5
Tandoori chicken full - Chicken pieces were bit crispy, got mint chutney as condiment. My rating: 4/5
BBQ Basa Fish - Boneless basa fish barbequed along with kuboos, pickles
and lettuce as salad. I personally feel its very costly considering the
single piece of fish. My rating: 2.5/5
Vazhai ilai Basa Fish -
It is nothing but the same bbq flavored basa fish, but covered in a
banana leaf, and steam cooked. Value for money? What is that? My rating:
2.5/5
Chef's Special Chicken Briyani - Nothing special to rave
about this one. It is just the regular dum briyani but had chicken 65
pieces, and a boiled egg was cut into 4 pieces and the plate was
decorated with 4 thin apple slices. My rating: 3/5
Schezwan
Chicken Fried Rice - This was my favorite dish that we have ever ordered
in this restaurant. It was a perfect fried rice, not much spicy, but
had enough flavors. If you ever visit this resto, order this one instead
of chicken briyani. My rating: 4/5
Tandoori Roti - Bit thick, hence it makes you feel stuffy. My rating: 4/5
Butter Chicken Masala - a delightful gravy to have along with rotis and
naans. bit sweet in taste....but had only few chicken pieces. My
rating: 3.5/5
Mix Arabian Platter - I only had a chicken tikka
piece from this platter. Not so special, not sure why it costs so much
1400rs...definitely not a value for money. My rating: 2.5/5
Veg Platter was a disaster. So we asked them not to bill it. And they accepted our request. Overall bill was 11330₹.
Finally the service - It took 2.5 hours for us to complete dinner. So
you can understand how fast the service is. We had decided not to come
again to Palmshore for a big mee(a)t like this.
Service was damn slow that most of the time we were only sitting idle with
little talks. And we had to call them so many times to order for food.
Our team personally felt that Seashell and Zaitoon are far better than
Palmshore in terms of service and variety of food. This place has a
wonderful ambiance and infrastructure, but not many employees to manage. If you come in a big group, better go for buffet instead of la carte as it will take 2 to 3 hours.
