What to eat: Arabic and Indian Cuisine
Where: Zaitoon, Anna Nagar
Verdict: It was a lunch meet due to one of my friend's visit to Chennai
a long time. At last minute, we decided to visit Zaitoon due to the
availability of arabian cuisine over there. Parking was smooth owing to the availability of valet parking. Only problem is the table which was
bit small for four of us.
Orders were 2/4 hot n sour Chicken
soup(140₹), Zaittoon special bbq chicken(440₹), fish finger (280₹)
as appetizer and kozi laham(230₹), chicken kolapuri(230₹), garlic
naan(43₹) as main course.
Soup was bit spicy due to the large
amount of pepper and chillies, but a perfect one for a rainy day like
today. Spl Bbq chicken was very much tender and juicy, went well with
the accompanied toum(garlic sauce) and mayonnaise. Wondering how they
made the chicken sweeter, yes it was little sweeter. Would be better to
have a pepper bbq instead of this sweeter one IMHO.
Fish finger
was crispy on the outer , but broken soft inside...decided not to order in
future visits as this is not king fish. But it's not bad due to the
sweet mayo given as side.
Kozi Laham is nothing but mutton topped
arabic rice. Initial thoughts were like how to eat it. Later mixed it
with the mutton masala (topping) to make it spicy. Not sure what to do
with the accompanied stuff. My friend was saying one of the side was
like home made chutney :) never gonna take risk next time.
Garlic naan with Chicken kolapuri was a fantastic pair to eat. Just
loved the way the kolapuri masala was made. It was not that spicy, but a
brilliant gravy for roti.
We didn't had any dessert here as we had other plan. Though the wait time is long, Zaittoon is a decent place for lunch.
