Mummy Daddy Andhra Mess
Finally had an opportunity to tick off this "mess" from my bucket list. A small andhra mess located opposite to IIT back gate in Taramani attracts a lot of crowd for their spicy meal and biriyani.
Visited for lunch with a friend. Dining hall was pretty big located on the first floor. Its mostly super busy, but we got our seats quickly. Only problem is we had to share the table with strangers. Certainly not recommended for visit with the family.
Opted for chicken boneless biriyani, chicken moghalai(don't blame me for the spelling ) biriyani and an omelette. I don't find much difference between the two varieties of biriyani except that boneless one had a boiled egg and moghalai had some scrambled eggs. Both of them had the same base, spicy biriyani rice. Chicken pieces were bit hard, otherwise it was a perfect spicy meal.
As usual, diluted butter milk with tiny cut onion pieces was served as raita with a cup of gravy. Quantity was so huge that we could finish only one together. So had to get the other briyani packed. Omelette was chilly powder added, and a good one.
It seems like andhra meal is a better option with literally everything unlimited from rice, papad, veggies to curd. Never seen anywhere keeping a big vessel full of curd. My friend was munching the fried potato during the whole session alongside the biriyani.
Here are few pics of the Andhra meal.
At the end, we were given a token number which we had to say at the billing counter to pay the bill. Lunch set us back by 310₹ which was a totally worth for the amount of food we had. Would we visit again? Surely, just to try the andhra meal, but not for the biriyani. Folks having problem with spicy meal, better stay away from this eatery.
