What to eat: Nattukozhi ( Country chicken ) Biriyani
Where: Amsavalli Bhavan, East Veli St, Madurai
Location:
Verdict: If in Madurai, my wife goes on shopping spree and I go on
eating spree. After hectic shopping, we decided to get some Biriyani
parcel. And we came to Amsavalli Bhavan which is quite famous for
nattukoli biriyani. We got few packs of half plate chicken
biriyani(150₹), mutton biriyani (150₹), chicken 65(120₹) after 30 mins
of standing in queue.
Both chicken biriyani and chicken 65 were made of
country chicken....Hence the meat is bit hard and less succulent. Mutton
pieces were of medium size, and it's just ok. Both the Biriyani
variants were bit bland, made of seeraga samba rice. It had onion raita,
chicken gravy and mutton gravy as accompaniments.
My in-law says that
it used to be tastier before 8-10 years, not bland like as it is now.
Anyhow it's better than the type of Biriyani that we get in Chennai.
